We offer professional quantity surveying services.

CAQS Quantity Surveyors was founded by Giel Cillié (PrQS), a registered member of The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS). Giel graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science (Quantity Survey) degree, followed by registration as a Professional Quantity Surveyor in 1983. He was previously employed by Interplan Incorporated, Celliers and Liebenberg Quantity Surveyors and Norman and Siglé Quantity Surveyors.

He started Giel Cillié Quantity Surveyors in 1985, and Cillié and Rautenbach Quantity Surveyors in 1986, changing the name to CAQS in 2001. He worked as a part-time senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria from 1988 until 1992. Giel was awarded a certificate of achievement by the Department of Environmental Affairs for his involvement in the construction of the Sanae IV base in the Antarctic in 1996. He was also awarded the certificate of merit as Quantity Surveyor by the South African Institute of Steel Construction in 1997 for the construction of the aforementioned base.

Guillaume graduated from the University of Pretoria with a Bachelor of Science (Quantity Survey) degree in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science (Quantity Survey) Honours degree in 2009. He registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor in 2012, and was previously employed by TR Cost Engineering, IBP Construction Consultants and MLC International (UAE). Guillaume has served as part-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria in 2013, and he has obtained a year of international experience in the United Arab Emirates. After the time spent in the UAE, Guillaume opened the CAQS branch in the Western Cape in 2014.

We are registered with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP). The SACQSP is the regulatory body of the Quantity Surveying Profession and is established in terms of the Quantity Surveying Profession Act 2000 (Act 49 of 2000). In terms of this legislation, an individual is prevented from practicing as a professional Quantity Surveyor unless duly registered with this Council.

In broad terms, we estimate and manage the financial aspects or costs of a construction project. We collaborate with architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, electronic engineers, OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) consultants and project managers on various projects to deliver an end construction result within budget and on time.
