Giel Cillié (Pr.QS)

CAQS Quantity Surveyors was founded by Giel Cillié (PrQS). Giel is a registered member of The Association of South African Quantity Surveyors (ASAQS), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Association of Arbitrators (A.o.A) and The South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession

Giel graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science (Quantity Survey) degree. Giel also completed a one year course at the University of Pretoria in 2015. This course addressed the FIDIC, NEC3, GCC and JBCC construction contracts, claim management, dispute resolution and adjudication.

Registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor in 1983. He was previously employed by Interplan Incorporated, Celliers and Liebenberg Quantity Surveyors and Norman and Siglé Quantity Surveyors.

He started Giel Cillié Quantity Surveyors in 1985, and Cillié & Rautenbach Quantity Surveyors in 1986. The name changed to CAQS in 2001. He worked as a part-time senior lecturer at the University of Pretoria from 1988 until 1992 and again in 2017. Giel was awarded a certificate of achievement by the Department of Environmental Affairs for his involvement in the construction of the Sanae IV base in the Antarctic in 1996. He was also awarded the certificate of merit as Quantity Surveyor by the Southern African Institute of Steel Construction in 1997 for the construction of the aforementioned base.



Guillaume Cillié (Pr.QS)

Guillaume graduated from the University of Pretoria. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Quantity Surveying) degree in 2007 and a Bachelor of Science (Quantity Surveying) Honours degree in 2009. He registered as a Professional Quantity Surveyor in 2012, and was previously employed by TR Cost Engineering, IBP Construction Consultants and MLC International (UAE). Guillaume has served as part-time lecturer at the University of Pretoria in 2013, and he has gained international experience in the United Arab Emirates over the course of one year. Guillaume opened the CAQS branch in the Western Cape in 2014.

Major Project Experience: Various high-end residential projects in Cape Town, Hermanus and Arniston. Numerous other commercial, education and industrial projects across the spectrum and specialist services like insurance valuations, disputes and renovations.



Deepesh Karsan (Candidate QS)

Deepesh Graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Studies in 2016 and Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in Quantity Surveying in 2017. Deepesh was previously employed at Crane Group Consulting from 2018 till 2023 and joined CAQS in September 2023.

Major Project Experience: Low cost residential, student accommodation, schools, retail, large to small scale alteration and renovation projects.

• Quantity surveying software packages, (Win QS – assisting us in the preparation of estimates, bills of quantities, valuations for monthly interim payment certificates, as well as “Final Accounts”)

• Cost X, 2D & 3D/BIM electronic take off software with integrated workbooks
